JWs voting
blank ballots
in French political elections

Dear Brother

Please don't use my name. I'm still inside.

In France too, like Germany, we have been encouraged to get registered on the voting list (excuse my so poor American) and to vote (blank, that is to say not putting a sheet in the envelope). (I speak of POLITICAL VOTING.)

This week the congregation were adviced that the printing plant of France (just inaugurated) would be transfered to England because of the government who said the workers don't pay the charge for the retirement [fund?] and social security. (Difficult to explain to you.)

Watch Tower is the same [as] international companies who put out workers to find cheaper ones in another country.

What a shame.

There is a big decrease in France this year (more than 2% since September).

Please no name — God bless you
France

NOTE: The letter above arrived in April — handwritten from a Jehovah's Witness in France who has been subscribing secretly to Comments from the Friends. Compare Stephan E. Wolf's letter from Germany in our previous issue, about 'new light' on voting in that country as well.—Editor

TIDBITS ON THE GOVERNING BODY

ACCORDING to JW postings on the Internet, Governing Body member Gerrit Loesch spoke in April at the dedication of a new assembly hall in Mexico and revealed that Karl Kline is now 92 years old and in poor health. Carey Barber is also 92, but is in good health and travels a lot. Loesch also revealed previously unpublished information about his own background: He was not raised "in the truth" and has no JW family members. Someone witnessed to him in 1958 when he was working in a hotel in Austria. He became a pioneer in 1961 and a special pioneer three months later. He was appointed circuit overseer in 1963 and attended Gilead School in 1965. Then he returned to Austria where he served until called to join the Governing Body in 1990.
